Colorado Minerals

Specimens

Come see us at the Denver Spring Show at the Holiday Inn North on April 25-27, room 143. We'll have a large selection of Colorado minerals, and also books on Colorado geology and mining, both new and out of print. For those of you who have visited our store in Ouray, The Sandman, the news is that the retail store closed December 2006. I still have Buckskin Booksellers at the Beaumont Hotel here in Ouray, and also the Coloradominerals.com showroom by appointment.

The latest additions to our inventory include quite a few Sunnyside mine specimens, especially rhodochrosites, but also fluorite and other minerals, collected by the mine electrician, Allan Norris, from the 1940s to 1960s. Also, we have a few very good specimens from Bryan Lees's personal collection.

Another new addition is the new find of light purple creedite from the Henderson mine in Clear Creek County, Colorado. These were collected by miners from the P81 drift, 7210 level in March of 2007. The specimens include both hemispheres of creedite to 7mm on light tan to almost black matrix, and also dense druses of light purple creedite on matrix. Sizes range from thumbnail to large cabinet size. We'll list some of these on the web site and also have a selection of them at the Denver fall show in Room J-44 at the Merchandise Mart.

Minerals listed on the web site will include those from old classic localities in the state, and also rarer locality pieces. We will attempt to have a broad range of specimens for almost every budget.
